Our Story

A love letter to
craftsmanship.

Bella Maria was born from a simple belief: that the things we carry should be as intentional as the lives we lead. Founded in 2024 in a sunlit Brooklyn studio, we set out to create bags that honor the tradition of hand-weaving while embracing the energy and elegance of New York City.


Every bag that leaves our atelier is a testament to slow fashion — a rejection of mass production in favor of pieces that are made to be cherished, not discarded. We believe luxury isn’t about a label. It’s about the hours, the hands, and the heart that go into every stitch.

Handcrafted

Every Bella Maria bag is individually hand-woven by skilled artisans in our New York City studio. Each piece takes 8–12 hours to complete, ensuring the highest standard of craftsmanship in every stitch.

Sustainable

We source our premium cotton yarn from sustainable mills and use natural bamboo for our signature handles. Our commitment to the environment extends to our packaging, which is fully recyclable and plastic-free.

Intentional

We produce in small batches, never more than we need. Each collection is thoughtfully designed to transcend seasons, creating pieces that remain relevant and beautiful for years to come.

The Process

From yarn to your hands.

Our process begins with selecting the finest cotton yarn, chosen for its softness, durability, and beautiful drape. Each bag is then hand-woven using traditional crochet techniques, adapted and refined to create our signature chunky weave texture.


The natural bamboo handles are individually selected, sanded, and sealed before being attached with gold-tone hardware. The result is a bag that feels substantial yet effortless — a perfect balance of structure and softness.
